The 2025 Eastern Nebraska Corn and Soybean Expo is set to return for its second year, promising a full day of valuable learning and networking for agricultural producers.
Scheduled for January 23 at Christensen Field in Fremont, Nebraska, this event will commence at 8 a.m. and conclude at 3 p.m., offering insights into crop production and market strategies for the year ahead.
The expo will begin with a casual breakfast of coffee and waffles provided by The Waffleman, an initiative sponsored by the Fremont Area Chamber of Commerce. This will be followed by opportunities to explore various equipment displays and exhibitor booths. Starting at 9 a.m., a series of speakers will address attendees, covering a range of topics crucial for the upcoming growing season.
Aaron Nygren, a Nebraska extension educator, highlighted the expo's goal of assisting producers in planning for a successful 2025. “The Eastern Nebraska Corn and Soybean Expo will assist producers in planning for next year's growing season,” Nygren noted, emphasizing the educational value of the event.
Keynote speaker Austin Schroeder, president of Schroeder Commodity Marketing, LLC, will deliver a talk titled “Corn and Soybeans, What to Expect Next”. His presentation will focus on current market dynamics, including global competition and the impact of the new presidential administration on corn and soybean markets.
Additional presentations will address practical agricultural topics:
- Joe Luck, UNL professor of biological systems engineering, will discuss “Optimizing Nitrogen Use in Corn Production.”
- Tamra Jackson-Ziems, a Nebraska Extension plant pathologist, will talk about “Corn Disease Surprises in 2024, What Can You Do to Prepare in 2025.”
- A panel discussion will explore lessons from the Testing Ag Performance Solutions (TAPS) initiative.
- Adam Leise, director of the Nebraska On-Farm Research Network, will provide updates on on-farm research opportunities.
Throughout the day, attendees will have the chance to interact with representatives from various agricultural companies and organizations, enriching their experience and expanding their network. This expo is supported by Nebraska Extension in the university's Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources, the Nebraska Corn Board, the Nebraska Soybean Board, and the Fremont Area Chamber of Commerce.
