Dairy Industry Leader Corey Geiger Earns Top Holstein Honor

Dairy Industry Leader Corey Geiger Earns Top Holstein Honor

By Blake Jackson

Corey Geiger of Omro, Wisconsin, has been selected as the recipient of Holstein Association USA’s 2026 Distinguished Leadership Award.

Geiger will be honored during the National Holstein Convention in June for his decades of service and leadership within the Holstein breed and the broader dairy industry.

“It's humbling to be recognized, because as I stand and look at some of the past winners, I see past leaders of this association, people that I looked up to as a young person, and to be considered in that group is pretty special,” Corey said. “To be recognized by your peers for the work you do means everything.”

Geiger’s connection to the dairy industry began on his family’s Wisconsin dairy farm, where he grew up as a sixth-generation farmer and developed a lifelong appreciation for Holstein cattle.

After graduating from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, he built a distinguished career in agricultural communications and economics.

Geiger spent 28 years at Hoard’s Dairyman, serving in several roles, including managing editor. Today, he is the lead dairy economist for CoBank, where he provides analysis and insight on dairy markets and industry trends. Along with his wife, Krista Knigge, he resides in Omro.

Recognized internationally for his expertise in dairy economics, Geiger has addressed audiences in 40 states and numerous countries. His presentations have covered topics ranging from genetics and milk markets to dairy farming and processing.

A longtime supporter of the Registered Holstein industry, Geiger served on the Wisconsin Holstein Association Board and later held national leadership roles with Holstein Association USA, including President from 2019 to 2022.

Geiger contributions also extend to several dairy organizations, educational initiatives, and industry projects, further solidifying his influence and lasting legacy within the dairy community.
