Join Pennsylvania Ag Literacy Week 2026 - Register Now

By Blake Jackson

The Pennsylvania Friends of Agriculture Foundation has opened registration for the 2026 Pennsylvania Ag Literacy Week, taking place in March. This year’s spotlight book is Cows Can Moo! Can You? All About Farms, part of The Cat in the Hat’s Learning Library series.

The book guides students through a farm, introducing them to the people, animals, and science that make agriculture possible.

Ag Literacy Week brings together volunteers from the agricultural community and classrooms across the state. These volunteers read the featured book, share their personal experiences, and help students understand how agriculture influences everyday life.

“Ag Literacy Week is one of our favorite times of the year,” said Charlene Shupp Espenshade, executive director of the Pennsylvania Friends of Agriculture Foundation.

“By placing agricultural books in the hands of teachers and giving students the opportunity to connect with local farmers, we are planting seeds of curiosity and understanding. It’s a simple but powerful way to show children where their food comes from and why agriculture matters.”

Interested volunteers and community partners can register and purchase the book and classroom resources online at pfbfriends.com. Registration closes December 12. For additional information, call 717-761-2740.
