New York's Coconut Cluster wins silver at 2024 beer festival

New York's Coconut Cluster wins silver at 2024 beer festival

Heritage Hill Brewhouse celebrated a remarkable achievement on October 12, 2024, as it secured a Silver medal at the prestigious 2024 Great American Beer Festival (GABF) competition, which is organized by the Brewers Association.

The brewery, located in Pompey, New York, was recognized in the Pastry Stout category for its popular brew, Coconut Cluster.

This award was particularly special, as it was announced on National Farmers Day, coinciding with Heritage Hill’s sixth anniversary.

Coconut Cluster, earlier recognized as the 2024 Best New York Farm Beer, was crafted using locally sourced ingredients, including New York-grown grains and hops.

The stout had already won a Gold medal in the New York Pastry Stout category back in March 2024, which led to its recognition as the highest-scoring beer made with ingredients from New York farms. This made the GABF Silver medal even more meaningful for the team at Heritage Hill.

Coconut Cluster is a dessert-inspired pastry stout brewed with a blend of New York grains and hops, and conditioned with rich ingredients like Mexican cocoa nibs, Tahitian vanilla beans, coconut cream, and New York milk sugar.

With an alcohol content of 8.9%, this beer is designed to complement desserts and sweet dishes, embodying its namesake flavor – a true coconut cluster.

This is not the first time Heritage Hill has been recognized at the GABF. In 2019, the brewery earned a Bronze medal for its Cherry Valley Farmhouse, a Belgian-style fruit beer.

As a designated New York Farm Brewery, Heritage Hill emphasizes the use of local ingredients in all of its craft beverages, reinforcing its connection to the region.

“Heritage Hill has been blessed to have been awarded six different New York State and GABF medals in its six years of operations. This is a testament to the strength of the New York Craft Brewery industry and the quality of New York grown ingredients. We would like to thank the New York State Brewers Association and all organizations and State leaders who have worked hard to build a strong and growing industry that has benefited the entire chain from farmer, to maltster, to brewer, to consumer.” said Dan Palladino, Owner, Heritage Hill Brewhouse.

In the 2024 GABF competition, beers from 107 categories and 175 styles were judged by 285 experts over seven days, marking the event as a global benchmark for brewing excellence.
