School for Beginning Beef Production Opens Online

Individuals who are new to beef production, as well as dairy producers considering adding beef enterprises or transitioning their operations, are invited to take part in the School for Beginning Beef Production. This free, six-part educational series is designed to provide practical knowledge and guidance for those looking to build or expand a beef operation.

The online course will be held via Zoom from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Central Time and runs from late January through mid-February. Sessions begin January 27 with an overview of the business of beef and available production options.

Additional classes include goal setting and marketing on January 29; perennial forage management and cow-calf nutrition on February 3; veterinary care, biosecurity, and recordkeeping on February 5; herd reproduction strategies on February 10; and annual forage management with an introduction to stocker, backgrounder, and finishing enterprises on February 12.

Registration for the course closes January 26, 2026. Those interested in accessibility services, including interpreters or alternative formats, should make requests by January 6, 2026.
